The world does not revolve around you!!!!!

breakfast menu

We are crazy about food. "In food we trust", somebody in the family claims.  These are not the normal things, we were just trying to make things being more than what they really are.

The most cheerful song.....

Sho-Jo-Ji - Eartha Kitt (click to the link)
Sho Sho Sho Jo Ji
Sho Jo Ji is a raccoon
He is always hungry
So he sings of koi koi koi

He will his head and tummy
Rub head and rum tum tum

Macaroons and macaroni
Jellybean and pink salmon
Koi koi koi koi koi koi
So he sings of koi koi koi

The saddest song I've ever heard!

Broken Vow - Lara Fabian (click to the link)
Tell me her name I want to know
The way she looks and where you go
I need to see her face, I need to understand
Why you and I came to an end

Tell me again I want to hear
Who broke my faith in all years
Who lays with you at night
When I'm here all alone
Remembering when I was your own

I'll let you go, I'll let you fly
Why do I keep on asking why
I'll let you go, now that I found
A way to keep somehow more than a broken vow

Tell me the words I never said
Show me the tears you never shed
Give me the touch
That one you promised to be mine
Or has it vanished for all time

I'll let you go, I'll let you fly
Why do I keep on asking why
I'll let you go, now that I found
A way to keep, somehow, more than a broken vow

I close my eyes
And dream of you and I
And then I realized
There's more to life than bitterness and lies
I close my eyes

I'll give away my soul
To hold you once again
And never let this promise end.

You get something, you lose something, but you never, never, get everything.

ducked out of the real world

It was a bloody Songkran, indeed.  How glad I've been to have a chance to float awau into the dreamworld far away from hell.

a must!

I'm lucky with cartoons, I dare declare.  Azur et Asmar and Minuscule won me the right to claim such thing.  Azur & Asmar is breathtakingly beuatiful and bewitched while Mimuscule would make you laugh like crazy, or at least giggle non-stop-ably.  These are the must, something you can't miss.  They are something you can say, "if you don't get to watch it, you miss something in your life."

the emptiness is there....

I have been in the world of sorrow for quite some times.

I mean, one thing I know best about life is that everyone is GOING TO DIE.  That's a fact, the truth.  The death of Khun Michael Wright made me realized that when someone dies, it's like an empty spot has been created in the world.  Imagine a field with grasses and flowers.........when one is plucked out, there is an empty spot right there, just that.  However, unlike the soil, that spot couldn't be filled because that spot is in someone's heart, you know.  The emptiness would be there, always.  One day, I'd forget about Khun Mike but in someone's heart, the one who won't forget, no matter who that person is, the hole would be there, empty, to eternity.

Khun Rong Wongsawan's death confirms this feeling.  I'm not afraid of death, I just hate that hole it creates.....

Finally

Finally, there is something that tags along with me longer than doing the Master's Degree.  It's been more than two years to date and it will be going for a long while.  Thank god that it's fun.  Come, obstacle, after finishing this, there would be nothing in the world to fear.  Ha ha ha ha..

Um...late night working makes me go banana.......

at the edge of the world

My complaint has been that I've never really seen "the field of gold".  The greenest of the rice paddle always catches my eyes and touches my heart. it's the green of all green.  It brightens the world.  It's soothing and it would calm you.  But, as I said, I haven't seen the field in gold, it would just suddently be brown.

I was taken to hunt the field of gold one late afternoon.  The field wasn't gold by itself, it was the help of the setting sun.

Right before the field of gold, there was this kettle field with several cowboys and their motorbikes. It was amazing to see these boys tending their cows with gentleness.  One of them sat down in front of a cow, stroke its nose while talking.

And finally, when I got to "my" field of gold, it was quite late and instead of the blocks of hay sitting in the middle of the field waiting for me to take pix that I thought was nice, it was picked up by this farmer with the morale support from all the dogs running around her.  Those hay would be stacked on the other side of the road, waiting for someone to come and buy them.

At that moment, I realized, you know, when I hold a camera trying to find some spot that was "picturesque", I have the privilege of being comfy and leisurly.  I might forget that lives would be there, real one and not as easy as mine.  Well, they are not complaining, they just live their lives but well, I should always remember that, shouldn't I?

At the edge of the world, I finally found my field of gold.

สีลมภัตตาคาร

This morning, after baking tons of Bale Fruit Cake for people, I went out to have breakfast at one of my favorite Khao-Gang places in a small lane amidst Banglampu.  As I sat down watching people, mostly not "local" ones, I thought about how long I have eaten here.  The answer was amazing, it's been more than 20 years ago.  I still remember the day I had to take a sip of water for every bite, even after their clear soup!!!!!!!  Dang, the owner and the one who cooks has been that crazy about chilli.  Well, we'll talk about this place some other time.

At this point of life, it's good to say that there are things you have done all your life, friends you have known since you were young, places you have gone for some nice meals for years...............

Silom Pattakarn is one of those places for me.  Actually, I think the first farang food restaurant I had ever gone to was a restaurant at AIT.  When I was young, on a weekend that my mom and dad went somewhere and we kids were home, a family friend dropped by and took at to the AIT and we had our first steak there.  Anyway, that kinda steak was nice but it wouldn't stick to my memory but the so-called farang food at Silom Restaurant does.  Of course when you eat there, dishes that are "the must" would be beef salad, pork chop, ox toungue stew and bread and butter.  Further than that would be each home's preference, for mine, it would be chicken curry.

Restaurants like Silom (well, Fu Mui Kee, for instance) are known as "Cook Shop", I supposed. There specialties would be western food that are prepared by local cooks.  The things we would eat there would be "see tek" and "see tu" (I have never eaten steak there but, of course, the stew) and the bread they have made, oh mine!, it's like heaven as it would be soft but full of texture and the butter they serve would be cut neatly into small pieces with the right temperature.  It is so that you'd spread it easily on your bread before dipping the buttered bread into the sauce of any dish in front of you.

I have some fond memories with Silom Restaurant apart from their good food.  Once when I read the menu, there was an extra page with handwriting on it.  The menu consisted of everything made of cat.  Geessss, I was stupid enough to believe that they served cat there and kinda refused to go there for a while before realizing that it was created by some naughty people specially for someone like me.  One other time, I was in college by then, after having a fullfiling lunch there, I left happily before knowing that I left my whole bag there.  When I got back to get it, everybody was laughing.  Yep, it was kinda funny that someone could be that absent minded.

I didn't go there for quite some times but after getting back to the place สีลมภัตตาคาร is still somewhere I want to always return.

March 04

in the morning

The world is full of nice things, isn't it?  When it's superhot like it has been lately, all the flowers start to bloom.  A friend of mine interpreted for me that the tree goes, "it's too hot, we are not gonna make thru it, let's bloom" or something like that.  Oh! well, that's a good one.

I was told that looking down from a building, Tabaks were fully bloom, so much so that you won't see any leaves.  I went to peak in at night and saw all the flowers with the help of my car's headlights but couldn't tell Tabak from Tabebuya.

Returning in the morning to see how beautiful purple goes with white, I was greeted by Sang Seaw up the elictricity wire.  After that, the flowers......

Well, I think I owe the world for KaWow in the morning, some chirping birds in the middle of the night, flowers, trees, night breezes before summer, my happiness, I'd conclude.

I know that there are a lot of hurtful things out there, but you should not forget how happy and lucky you are..........

Happy Summer Time to you, hope you are happy too.  If you are not, just keep breathing deeply, things could get better that way, you know :)
